Adding Colour Labels to Document Pages using Adobe InDesign

The Pages panel allows you to label pages in a document with different colours. This is a useful feature for labelling individual or multiple pages for many purposes. A page could be labelled for many reasons to suit workflow, from marking a page that still needs correcting, to labelling pages that have incomplete content. They can also be used for labelling master pages for easy identification when many masters are used. Page colour labels can be applied to both document pages and master pages.

To create colour labels for pages:

  • In the Pages panel, select the page, or master page that requires labelling.
  • In the pages panel choose Colour Label and choose a colour from the submenu.
  • If you want a document page to use the same colour label as the Master page it is based on, choose Use Master colour from the panel menu.
  • To remove a colour label from a page, select the page and then choose None from the panel menu.
