About Tracing Artwork using Live Trace of Adobe Illustrator
Illustrator's Live Trace feature lets you quickly and easily create Illustrator vector artwork based on a scanned drawing, photograph or illustration.
For instance, if you have a scan of a pencil sketch on paper, you can import it into Illustrator and automatically trace around it with the Live Trace command.
The level of detail and how the traced objects are filled can be controlled. When finished, the tracing can be converted to vector paths or a Live Paint object.
